A good friend recently suggested that I read this novel by Khaled Hosseini.  A while back I read, The Kite Runner and was glad I did.  However, I vowed not to read anymore novels about Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Iraq.  I was in overload after also reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. Well…I am back into this cultural immersion.  Guess what’s next?  The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai (Nepal) and Kabul Beauty School by Deborah Rodriguez.  So much for a moratorium on Asian Literature. Maybe interspersing them with American romances will help balance it all out with perspective. (?)

BKB suggested that I start listening to books on CD while commuting.  My first YA book is Lizzy Bright and the Buckminster Boy by Gary D. Schmidt.  This author will be speaking in Richmond next weekend!   After listening to a brief traffic update, this keeps me calm and diverted.
