Tiramisu September 28, 2007

Tiramisu means “lift me up” in Italian.  In honor of this delightful, creamy mocha dessert, I had planned to share a few recipes.  The inspiration is Cooking Light magazine’s Oct 2007 issue. Some of the “secret” ingredients include ladyfingers and marscarpone cheese, plus chocolate and coffee! I’ve never created tiramisu but am now inspired.

Cooking Light offers all their recipes over the internet!

on my needles September 26, 2007

(The color is called New Iris.)

I went to Ben Franklin and browsed the yarn shelves.  Here’s what jumped into my basket. This is my first attempt at a felted purse.  I am very attracted to variegated colors in nature.  My eyes drift towards them.  I also like the feel of this wool. Being a very particular girl growing up, I hated anything “itchy” around my waist or on my body.  (Poor mom!) Thank goodness dress codes changed drastically over the years.

This Bernat yarn is from Canada. Free pattern inside the label. www.bernat.com  I am using circular bamboo needles. Love them!

MPG & pajama driving September 25, 2007

BKB and I took a trip to the beach in Delaware this weekend.  The weather was gorgeous!  After having a tune-up on my car, I decided to start keeping track of the mileage and see how we are doing on the highway.  32 MPG!

He forgot some important health papers this morning.  I decided to drop them off at his office early before patients arrived.  I nervously drove the 1 and 1/2 mile in my pj’s; worrying the entire drive if I would have an accident or see someone I know.  It was not worth the anxiety.  Great use of cell phones.  No need to get out of the car.  Amusing, but not fun!  Of course, whom should I see; but avoid, Dr. R.  Oh well…….. It is time to go back to work.

Some good interviews and prospects are perculating.  I am considering starting another blog as this one is almost to capacity.  I’ll keep you posted!

I have some comments on school system politics and national politics but I just can’t take you or myself down that road today.

Lady of the Loom has inspired me once again. Her recent posting on music is getting me ready to share my list of favorite songs with some explanations.

Also, a knitted felted purse is soon to be created. Thanks APC! There is nothing on my needles.  This is a sign of deprivation.  Soon to be remedied. No more reading about knitting.  The air is cool at night- a perfect time for “another project”.  And the holidays are “looming”…….maybe I can ignore them also. ;-)

And the dream of installing colorful kitchen “backsplash” mosaic tiles are on the horizon.

All the best!  Look on the brighter side and keep your chin up!

soon-soon-soon-soon-soon-soon ( I challenge Stephen Colbert to incorporate this into “The Word!”)  soon

A new book has been published with the historical facts of knitting for others in times of war.  Many interesting websites to visit  and patterns to try out.  I can’t say enough good about the layout of this book and it’s premise.  Yes, I will buy it for me and for my Friends at MFM. I Love Denim! September 19, 2007

(This Google Image looks like Chloe…but it isn’t.  However, this outfit is the essence of the  creativity you will find in 99 Ways.  The publisher is Crown/Random House/ Potter Craft and the format is a spiral bound book.  There is another book with 99 T-shirt ideas.)

Here’s a great new craft book to explore if you love denim. So save your jeans that don’t fit and keep your scraps; you never know what you could create/remake out of them and have fun at the same time!

99 Ways to Cut, Sew & Deck Out Your Denim by Faith Blakeney, Justina Blakeney and Ellen Schulz (2007)

I was recently perusing the craft book aisle at Barnes & Noble. I’ll admit, I often make lists of books I want to try to check out at the library first before I buy them or maybe never buy.  I lucked out with this one.  CCPL had it.  My dear friend Mary, inspired me many years ago with her crafting abilities.   I hope she is reading this and will go to B & N and see the book!  I am hoping Marcella the Womanequin will soon make a special appearance on this blog with Mary’s consent, of course. ;-)

The quilt photo is similar to  a quilt Mary made years ago.  Instructions are at this site:

BTW, you can now purchase denim curtain panels at a national competitor chain of Linens-N-Things.  Check it out!
